CD Release Event to Benefit WHY
CD Release Event to Benefit WHY
March 22, 2001
Frank Walker wrote in to announce the following event:
Wanted to let you know that my partner Ramona Spooney & I are planning to
release a 10-original song debut CD in April or May under our act's
name, SpoonWalk.
The CD is entitled "Every Us" & is available to order on our label's
website: http://www.bentpussycatrecords.com/catalog.html
We are planning to have a CD release party on Friday 5/18/01 (the weekend
before my 34th birthday,5/23) starting at 8pm at the
IRISH COTTAGE
(1010 Park Blvd., Massapequa Park NY 516-798-2196)
We plan on playing the entire CD live (plus some select covers, including
"Story of a Life" by me & Ramona plans on doing "Shooting Star") with
hopefully a 7 piece band plus guest players around 9:00pm followed by a big
musical free-for-all open to all musicians!
This show will cost $5.00 at the door, & CD's will run $15.00 each.
$5.00 of each CD purchased (& of course any voluntary donations) will go to
the show's charity benefactor, WORLD HUNGER YEAR!
We are also very excited that JEN CHAPIN has graciously accepted our
invitation to open the night @ 8pm with a set of her original music with
members of her band & she is hooking us up with the W.H.Y. connection.
Feel free if you'd like to post this on the Harrychapin.com site, & if you're
anywhere in the NY area in May, we'd love to see you & anyone interested.
Thanks very much-Ramona Spooney & Frank Walker

Sniper & Other Love Songs
[iTunes]
In 1972, Harry released
Sniper & Other Love Songs.
Thirty years would pass before the album would ever reach the CD format. Sniper was finally re-released in June, 2002.
Originally given a working title of Sweet City Suite, the album tells the story of various characters one might run into in
a city. The album features the original studio versions of Chapin classics "A Better Place to Be" and "Circle." But
perhaps more importantly (as those songs are already well-distributed on compilation CDs), the album features seemingly
lost Chapin stories, including "And the Baby Never Cries," "Burning Herself," "Barefoot Boy," and "Woman Child."
Sniper is for the seasoned Chapin fan. New fans would do better to check out
Greatest Stories
Live. But for Chapin fans who have reached the level of the
Dance Band on the Titanic album, this is the next step. Slightly over-produced and having a little of the "forced"
feel that some of Harry's studio albums possess, this album does not capture the powerfully live Harry Chapin. Nonetheless,
it captures Harry's great iconoclastic songwriting--Harry takes the story song to new heights here. But the album works best
for those ready for it; don't buy it until you are ready to appreciate it!
